WEF Davos 2027: organising your transfers from Zurich, Geneva and Basel
Every January, Davos goes from 11,000 inhabitants to a protected town with several thousand participants, journalists and staff. For a delegation, the airport transfer is the first piece of logistics to settle, and the most sensitive: slots are short, roads are filtered and vehicles are scarce. Here is what we have learned driving to the Forum every year.

Dates and the real calendar
The Forum takes place in the third week of January; the exact dates of the 2027 edition are published by the WEF. For transport, the week actually starts on the preceding Friday, when technical teams and the first delegations arrive, and ends on Saturday evening. The two peaks are Sunday and Monday on arrival, Thursday evening and Friday on departure.
From which airport?
Zurich Airport → Davos is the reference route: 173 km, 2 h in normal conditions on the A3 along Lake Zurich and the Walensee, then Landquart and the Prättigau. Geneva is 4 h 15 away and Basel 2 h 45; we run those too, at the same fixed price per journey. Helicopters and private jets use Samedan or Zurich; a transfer from Samedan airfield adds 1 h 10 over the Flüela pass or through the Vereina tunnel.
What changes during the Forum
- The centre of Davos is divided into security zones; car access to the Congress Centre and the hotels within the perimeter requires a vehicle badge issued by the WEF or the hotel. Without a badge, drop‑off is at the checkpoints, a few minutes' walk away.
- The Promenade is one‑way or closed in sections; times within Davos double.
- Police checks at Landquart and at the entrance to Davos add 15 to 30 minutes at peak hours.
- The Prättigau can be snowy; our vehicles carry winter tyres and chains, and we follow closures live.
Which vehicle for a delegation
The Mercedes S‑Class is the expected vehicle for executives and heads of delegation: Zurich → Davos at CHF 850 per journey, chauffeur in a suit, Wi‑Fi and discretion. The E‑Class, at CHF 610, suits teams of two or three; the V‑Class, at CHF 700, carries seven people and equipment; the Sprinter, with an instant quote, up to twenty people for production or press teams. Many delegations combine an S‑Class and a V‑Class for the team.
Booking, and when
S‑Class cars book up in December, often before the 15th. E‑ and V‑Class go in early January. For a corporate account we open invoicing, paid before each service, and a single contact for the whole week, with schedule changes by WhatsApp. Each transfer receives a confirmation with the chauffeur's name, plate and number, which security services often request.
On the day
The chauffeur tracks the flight and waits in arrivals with a discreet name board, or at the agreed point for jet arrivals. The car is heated, water is on board, Wi‑Fi works for the whole journey except in the Gotschna tunnel. On arrival, the chauffeur drops at the authorised point closest to the hotel and helps with luggage as far as the checkpoint.
During the week
We offer hourly or daily hire with a chauffeur who knows the zones and badges. It is the simplest solution to chain meetings between the Congress Centre, the Kurpark hotels and the Promenade pavilions, and for runs to Klosters, where many delegations stay.
After the Forum
On Friday evening and Saturday everyone comes down at the same time. Book the return together with the outbound; we reschedule free of charge up to 24 h before. For an early Saturday flight from Zurich, count 2 h 30 of road leaving Davos and 2 h of check‑in.
Staying in Klosters, Landquart or Chur
Davos is full months in advance and hotel rates during Forum week are multiplied by five. Many delegations stay in Klosters, 20 minutes lower down, where hotels are more available and the road direct through the Gotschna tunnel. Others choose Landquart or Chur, 45 minutes and an hour away, with daily returns in an E‑Class or on hourly hire. We bill these daily shuttles at the fixed price of the route, or by the day for a dedicated chauffeur who stays available between sessions. The train between Klosters and Davos also runs every 30 minutes, and the chauffeur can drop you at Klosters station if the Promenade is blocked.
Journalists, technical teams and equipment
Television and production teams arrive on the Friday or Saturday before the Forum with cases of equipment. The Sprinter, twenty seats or fewer with the corresponding luggage space, carries a team and its flight cases in one journey, with a trailer on request for bulky equipment. For these bookings, send us the equipment list and the number of people: we reply with a quote within two hours. Press accreditations give access to specific drop‑off zones; the chauffeur knows them.
The budget for a Forum week
For a delegation of three arriving from Zurich on Sunday and leaving on Friday, staying in Davos and moving around town on foot: two S‑Class transfers, that is CHF 1'700. For the same delegation staying in Klosters with a chauffeur available eight hours a day for five days: the two S‑Class transfers plus the hourly hire, quoted individually, generally between CHF 5'000 and 6,000 for the week. Everything goes on a single monthly invoice with VAT, with the daily detail for the expense report.
Accompanying persons and families
Many participants come with their spouse or family, who ski during the sessions. Davos remains a resort: the Parsenn and the Jakobshorn operate normally during the Forum, and Klosters offers a quieter setting. We organise the transfers of accompanying persons separately from those of the delegation, with V‑Class cars for skis and children, and daytime returns to Klosters or Arosa. The price stays that of the grid.
After the Forum: staying in the Grisons
Several delegations extend by a weekend. St. Moritz is 1 h 10 from Davos over the Flüela pass in summer and through the Vereina in winter, Arosa 1 h 30 via Chur, Lenzerheide 1 h 15. We run these transfers in an E‑ or V‑Class at the fixed price, then the return to Zurich from the chosen resort, which avoids going back through Davos. The White Turf in St. Moritz, horse races on the frozen lake, takes place on the three Sundays of February, right after the Forum.
Checklist for a delegation
- Each participant's flights, with the terminals in Zurich (Arrival 1 for Swiss and Star Alliance, Arrival 2 for most others).
- The hotel and its security zone, to know whether a vehicle badge is needed.
- The vehicle per person or per group: S‑Class for executives, E‑ or V‑Class for teams, Sprinter for production.
- The days of hourly hire and the start times, to block a dedicated chauffeur.
- An on‑site contact reachable on WhatsApp for last‑minute changes.
- The information your security service will ask for: the chauffeur's name, plate and photo.
Send us this list, even incomplete, as soon as the dates are set: we reserve the vehicles and fill in the rest later. Billing is at the end of the month, with the detail per day and per passenger.
A word on discretion
Forum week attracts attention, and some of our passengers prefer not to be seen arriving. Our chauffeurs are used to it: no name board if you prefer a meeting at the car, no conversation about who was in the vehicle before or after, and no photographs. The S‑Class has tinted rear windows; the V‑Class can be fitted with privacy glass on request. We do not publish client names, and references to other delegations are only given with their agreement. The same applies to the invoices, which carry the company name and a reference of your choosing, not the passengers' names unless you ask for them.
Frequently asked questions
How long from Zurich Airport to Davos during the WEF?
2 h in normal conditions, 2 h 30 to 3 h at Forum peak hours because of the checks at Landquart and at the entrance to Davos. We follow traffic live and adapt the departure time.
Do I need a badge to drive into Davos during the Forum?
For the security perimeter around the Congress Centre, yes: a vehicle badge issued by the WEF or the hotel. Without a badge, the chauffeur drops at the nearest checkpoint, a few minutes' walk away.
What does an S‑Class Zurich → Davos cost?
CHF 850 per journey, fixed, all included. The E‑Class is CHF 610, the V‑Class CHF 730, the Sprinter with an instant quote.
When should I book for WEF 2027?
In December for S‑Class cars and large delegations, early January at the latest for other vehicles. Free cancellation up to 24 h before.
Do you offer a chauffeur at disposal during the week?
Yes, by the hour or the day, with a chauffeur who knows the zones, the badges and the runs to Klosters. Invoicing for corporate accounts, paid before the service.
Can you organise a transfer from Samedan airfield?
Yes. Samedan is 1 h 10 from Davos over the Flüela pass or via the Vereina car train from Zernez in winter. Fixed price with an instant quote.
What if our flight arrives while the roads are closed?
The roads do not close completely; there are checks and diversions. The chauffeur knows the authorised routes and drops you at the point closest to the hotel, then accompanies you with the luggage to the checkpoint.
Do prices go up during the WEF?
No, our grid stays the same. It is availability that shrinks: S‑Class cars are booked before mid‑December.
